Family Dinner – Aadis Red Sea
Dart Boston gathers around an incredible Ethiopian feast.
Last night 10 members of the Dart community met up at Addis Red Sea for the first official Family Dinner. Our table(s) took over half of the downstairs lounge, where a feast of immense proportions was in the making.
The food exceeded ALL expectations.
Popular items included the Doro Wot and the Lega-Tibs. Though to be fair, none of us could actually distinguish our orders amongst the colorful mounds that filled our mesobs (woven tables). A massive, family-style undertaking thus began.
Eating with you hands, as you might have guessed, is an experience. The key is to scoop the stew-y sauces up with pieces of the moist flat bread and to keep the entire morsel flat on your fingertips. We were pros by the end of the night.
If you’re looking to experience Ethiopian for the first time, head down to Addis with a friend and order the Red Sea Special Combination. For $24, you get a comprehensive sampling of the beef, chicken, and vegetable dishes. Also, definitely don’t miss out on the African beer selection – my Kenyan “Tusker” was a clean, refreshing match for the mild-to-moderately spicy entrees.
Highly recommended.
Our next Family Dinner will be “southern comfort food” at Tupelo near Harvard Square. Look for more information as we draw closer to the 16th!
