Pokin’ Holes Pre Show – Greenhorn Connect

by Cort on November 30, 2009

www.GreenhornConnect.comA week off and several food induced comas later we are back with Pokin’ Holes.  This week’s show is special as we are going to be participating in the MegaTweetUp presented by our friend Joselin Mane at Microsoft NERD. If you haven’t checked out the MegaTweetUp you can learn more about it here… http://megatweetup.eventbrite.com/

This week we need everyone at Microsoft NERD by 6pm.  On this week’s show we have everyone’s favorite start-up event guru Jason Evanish and his company Greenhorn Connect.  Greenhorn Connect (http://greenhornconnect.com) is the one stop resource for young and new entrepreneurs.  Through Greenhorn Connect you can learn about all the start-up events that are going on in Boston, who runs them, when they are and so much more.

Grab your Pokin’ Holes Ticket… http://pokinholes.eventbrite.com (remember you will need to get a separate ticket for the MegaTweetUp, your Pokin’ Holes ticket will not get you entry)

Learn more about Greenhorn Connect in my conversation with Jason…

Thank you to Microsoft for being this week’s sponsor! To learn more about all the great stuff Microsoft is doing for the Boston community be sure to follow Microsoft NERD and Gus Weber on Twitter.

Just wanted to clarify a few things that didn’t fit in the 10 minute taping or perhaps weren’t clear:

Mission:
Our mission is to connect entrepreneurs with the Resources, Events and Organizations in the Boston region.

How we accomplish our mission:
1. Resources: The most comprehensive, searchable listing of resources in the region thus far.
2. Blog: addressing key questions and highlight key resources for entrepreneurs.
3. News/Announcement feed: pulling together all the key info on competitions, office hours, application deadlines for unique opportunities and more.
4. Comprehensive events calendar (launching later this week): searchable calendar to allow you to make the best decisions on what events you should attend, regardless of your interests as an entrepreneur.
5. Community based site: Anyone who registers can add a resource or an event to the site, maximizing the exposure potential for everyone as no one can really know everything that’s out there, especially new programs.

Monetization:
We have a plan and have yet to reach the stage of generating cash. Having said that we are ahead of where we thought we would be and are moving forward to develop areas we recognize as potential revenue generators.

What we hope to learn:
By going on Pokin Holes, we’re looking to hear from people how they’re using the site beyond what site analytics can tell us. We want to confirm our customer hypotheses.
Some of our questions: What problems are we solving for you? Are there other related problems that it does not sufficiently solve? What related problems would you pay for to have them solved?

Hope to see you there Thursday!

Thanks,
Jason
